Woche 38- 789 stairs... or something like that.

Grüß euch!
I REALLY have no time. Im not even sure if i can finish this letter this week but i will try! so much has happened- i just want to describe everything, but its hard because im in Ulm on a district Pday, and we just climbed the tallest church in the world! About 789 steps I think. it was REALLY tall, and we were pretty tired. But it was so cool from the top to look out and see the Alps way off in the distance! But more importantly- last week!
Monday evening we visited the Zander family- they are a rock solid family! They have 2 children on mission and two teenagers who are rocks in the gospel. We did FHE with them, and then went to the church to have a massive missionary collaboration to plan our work finally. After that meeting, we were ready! The meeting got done around 8:45 so we figured we would go home just a few min. early- but Elder Dickson insisted that we go out and find for 5 minutes- and we found this awesome gangsta teenager named Musti! miracle!
Tuesday we had distrikt meeting in Ulm- and then that afternoon we taught a guy we found last week named Francesco- he is a young Italian who wanted a BOM. On the way home, an old man called us from across the street and was ECSTATIC to find out there were mormons in Göppingen! he was an investigator in Stuttgart- but lost contact with the church when he moved, and he was so excited to see us. we taught him a first lesson right there in the park- his name is Fritz! Truly miraculous.
Wednesday we did a lot of finding- but the funnest part of the day was visiting the Fingerle family- also a rock solid family. We had tradtional Schwäbisch food- Maultaschen with soup. they are like spinach ravioli- and they are DELICIOUS. so good. They have 4 little kids who LOVE the missionaries. Their daughter Belana has a massive crush on Elder Dickson. Its pretty funny. Thursday we taught Fritz again- showed him to the church. He talks SO MUCH- he pretty much told  us his whole life story. But the lesson went well and he was way excited for church on Sunday. That night we went to Geislingen (another large city in our area) and visited the Weilguni family! They are SUCH a nice family- also with 3 small kids. Their daughter Hanna is 14, and was giving me the flirty eyes- but i told her firmly she was far too young for those things. Her mom laughed her head off and told us all the young women in the ward were going crazy since we got 4 elders here haha. Friday we were planning most of the day- until we went in the evening to play soccer with the Young men. They want us to come often to ym because there are 3 17 year olds, and they want to get them on missions. Im so excited to get them on joint teaches! Oh- but before soccer, we met with Thomas (the guy from last week) and gave him a tour of our church- he was SUPER excited to find out we do family history, and wanted to talk to someone, because he has never actually met his father. crazy!
Saturday we did a distrikt "area book finding day" where we pretty much just finished separating the book- AH I just found out our time is up. Ill finish the story later.
I love you guys! The church is true!

Week 37- Wilkommen in Göppingen!

Liebe Familie,
Well, guess whos writing to you from DEUTSCHLAND! This guy! And let me be the first to tell you that it is surprisingly different from Austria! The branch here is AMAZING! I am loving it so let me just catch up the last weeks events!
Monday through wednesday was a lot of goodbyes. Its was REALLY emotional trying to leave St. Pölten- a lot of packing, and lot of nerves, a few tears shed. But I felt like i got in my proper goodbyes to all those who truly matter. The hardest was saying goodbyes to bruder Bauer, Wolfgang, and the Brunnsteiners. We all exchanged information and so we will keep in contact. But its still hard! Sorry thats a lame recap of 3 three really important days, but i have no time!
Thursday i was in trains ALL DAY going from east Austria up to west Germany! In Munich i met my new golden, Elder Dickson! He is from Buckley, Washington, and he is a stud! We rode together to Stuttgart with the other 2 elders who are opening up Göppingen with us- Elder Thompson and Elder Caldwell. They are both on the quiet side, but they are ready to work!
Thursday night we all attended ward council, and it was a blast to get to know everyone. It was so different to see younger looking faces! In St. Pölten everyone is basically 45+. here, the average age is probably 12! More than half the ward is kids, and the adults are all pretty young and really strong members! Its so cool!
Friday was interesting. We spent the morning splitting the Sisters old area book- and trying to get in contact with their old investigators. No real luck there, so we made a battle plan and just got to work talking to everyone we could see! We gotta find those gems somewhere! Luckily Elder Dickson is a boss at talking to people on the street! He has NO FEARS. unfortunatley the german is still coming, so i usually step in a translate, but its been fun and we saw a HUGE miracle. We talked to a guy right next to city hall named Thomas. We ended up sitting down on the steps and talking for over an hour! We taught he whole first lesson and he seemed decently interested, and more than anything just a really nice guy. He is a native german too! He even missed his bus home because he wanted to stay longer with us, but we set up a return appointment. so cool!
Saturday we had a big meeting in Stuttgart for all the trainers. It was pretty good- really cool to see Elder Horlacher again! He is the ZL there! We went right after that to the baptism of an 8 year old in our ward- there we got to meet a few more members of the ward!
Sunday at church- we called someone from the area book and he came to church! Imad Jud is his name! He came and we taught him a little lesson before the meetings started and he seemed really interested! Church was AWESOME! The ward is so nice and so cool! There are so many young kids- and they all adore the missionaries! So many little faces all fighting for our attention- especially the little gang of 14 year old girls. They remind me a lot of nickelle- its kinda fun!
that evening we went out for a couple hours, and talked to A MILLION people, because we didnt want to come home for dinner or anything until we found someone we could teach! and of course, late at night, the LAST person we talked to was actually pretty interested and we're meeting up tuesday! Miracles!
The work is true. The Lord protects us. How else would two clueless guys survive in a brand new city?! Thanks for your prayers! I love you!
Adventure is out there!

Woche 36- Transfer Calls!

Liebe Familie!
grüß euch!!
I guess i should probably start with the big news right?? Well... this week we recieved the transfer call. and it seems as if my time here in St. Pölten has come to an end!
Ready for the big announcment?!
Im going to Göppingen, Germany!!! There are currently 2 sisters serving there, but they are both getting pulled out, and 4 elders are being "white washed" in!! The other 2 elders will take over the sisters program, and i and ANOTHER GOLDEN will be opening up a brand new area! Craß!!! I guess that means ill be training my 3rd golden! This time in germany! Youll have to pray a lot that the two of us dont get terribly lost wandering around a brand new city!!
Now for the update on the week- it was one of the best EVER!!!
Monday we went to go do service for Schwester Sindl- the sister who always cooks for us- and she asked us for a blessing because she is going into the hospital to have shoulder surgery. She asked me to speak the blessing, it was my first actually in german! It was real powerful to feel the words come through me that i wasnt personally speaking- it was truly from heavenly father to one of his choice daughters.
Tuesday was Zone Training- and they introduced a new "member family plan" program to us that is seriously going to CHANGE this mission! I am so excited about bringing it to the members! It is going to really increase the work and bring the gospel to so many people! I am beyond excited for this program! I really feel like the lord has been preparing the ward to recieve this program too- 5 months ago it would not have worked. But the members have really warmed up to the missionaries, and are so excited for the work now! There will be some serious miracles in this area!
Wednesday was the funeral of the mother of sister Schildböck in Wilhelmsburg. We took a bus down there, and were able to take part in the funeral. It was a very somber event, but good. The ward choir sang at the graveside, and they asked me to sing in the quartet- it was a very traditional catholic ceremony (the mother was catholic) so it was interesting to see. Afterwards the whole family drove up into a little dorf to have lunch at a real medival tavern. it was pretty awesome!
Thursday we taught andreas in the morning- and we had to drop him. He is certainly not ready for baptism, and he told us there was no point in meeting anymore because he doesnt want to change. In the evening, we taught Wolfgang with President Sztraceny (the branch president) and he gave a special presentation on the first vision- a very powerful experience!
Friday we got the call- needless to say, we were pretty excited about the news! The other elders are all staying in St. Pölten, and Elder Parkinson is getting Elder Phillips as a companion- hes a little younger than i am in mission age, so they will be two young pups together! Then we met with a man named Jabagji- he is from Syria. and he is a serious seeker of the truth- we found him last week on the street. He told us on friday "when my small daughters ask me who god is... i dont know what to tell them. I need to know!" we told him about the first vision- he asked us "do you really believe that? is that true?" when we answered yes, the spirit was SO STRONG. There is a pretty hefty language barrier because he only speaks a little english, but he is determined to read the book of mormon now to find out if it is true. SO COOL!
Saturday was SO GREAT! We did a lot of tracting during the day, but in the evening we finally got to visit Birgit, and stephan again! She was so nice to us and we talked for FOREVER. she had some super questions about the book of mormon, and it was a sweet visit. Im pumped for the elders to keep visiting with her family. What happened after was the best part. Bruder Bauer picked us up to take us to our joint teach with wolfgang, and in the car he told us about an AWESOME missionary experience he had! Before General Konferenz we committed him to pray about a missionary experience he could have- he had been praying really hard, and so had we. And last week, on of the people he works for (someone he said he would have NEVER guessed would have interest) just randomly told him he was discontent with the catholic church and was visiting other churches. Bruder Bauer simply told him to come visit us and he committed to meet the missionaries! IT WAS AN ANSWER TO OUR PRAYERS! I know that when we pray for chances to share, the Lord will put the people in our paths. we dont need to do crazy things, just to be ready to open our mouths! Sunday, my last sunday in the church, was pretty hard. they asked me to bear my last testimony, and i broke down and cried at the pulpit. These members, these investigators, this area... it all means so much to me. this truly is my home! I love this place with all my heart- it will always be special to me. Luckily the members all rushed us to invite us to dinner before i go... i just wish they had always been so eager for us to come! ;)
After church was one of the best experiences of my mission. We had lunch with the Hirschmanns- and they invited a lady named Doris over. She is one of the people we helped with the flood clean up- about 4 months ago. she told us all during dinner how grateful she was for our help and how she will never forget it. Afterwards, we were singing primary songs all together from the primary book, and we sang "a childs prayer" (in german obviously) and during the song- the spirit was so strong, and Doris just broke down and wept. It was one of the most powerful moments of my mission. I had the chance to bear a simple testimony afterwards and talk with Doris. She didnt agree immediately to meet with the missionaries or anything, but i recieved the witness that her heart was softened and that she will someday remember that day and accept the gospel. so powerful!
The mission is so powerful! I love it!
Please wish me luck as i move on to this new adventure! Im going to need it! I love you all and i love St. Pölten!
Adventure is out there!

Woche 35- General Konferenz in der schönsten Stadt dieser Welt!

Liebe Familie,
What an amazing weekend it has been! I hope you all received as much inspiration from conference as i did! It was truly an amazing to hear the words of the prophets DIRECTLY to us. I know that those men are inspired and that the words, when we let them, can burn our souls and inspire change. I love it!
A quick recap on my week, for lack of real time...
Tuesday, we had distrikt meeting, then, according to tradition, we went to get Schnitzel at Herbs! That was my 5th time eating that BEAST of a schnitzel... i cant believe it! that afternoon,we had Deutsch class with Korherr and afterwards we had ward council- it was a really great evening!
Wednesday morning, we rode the bikes to Unterradlberg again! those massive hills didnt seem quite so hard this time... :) Unfortunately the family wasnt home. BUT while we were standing under the porch roof, some creature landed on the roof and scared the jitters out of us- we were too afraid to see what it was, cause it sounded HUGE- then it jumped off and ran into the forest. Bigfoot?
That afternoon we started something that was our ward mission leaders idea- praying, and then going through the phone book, finding addresses, and going to visit them. aparently a lot of places around the mission are having great success with that kind of thing. So we prayed and found some names, but we didnt have time to go by on the them yet because we had some lessons in the evening with Wolfgang and Erich Scharner. Wolfgang got in a mini argument with Bruder Hirschmann during our lesson- i did my best to calm it down and bring the spirit back. After the lesson, i was afraid Wolfgang would be upset- but he said it didnt bother him at all. dodged a bullet there!
Thursday, Elder Mongia and i had an exchange! I just love that little italian guy. Its been way fun having him here the last 4 transfers... even if he does get really uptight sometimes, he is such a boss. We got asked to come help with a service project to a non-member family in desperate need. The frost and snow is coming really soon, and this family owns a grape vinyard, and they needed help harvesting! so we spent 5 hours or so harvesting these grapes. it was FREEEZING cold, but the people we worked with were so nice and very faithful people. I love spending time with them! Friday we had a mini miracle- we went into the city and found a guy named Jabagji- from Syria. He couldnt speak very good german at all, but he really wanted a book of mormon! that evening, we went to take Bruder Bauer a spiritual lesson- he put us in his car to drive us to his house- and took some detors to show us some beautiful castles that he grew up around. Way cool! Then we committed him to pray during conference that he could have a missionary experience. Im super excited to hear the outcome!
Saturday morning, we brought the arabic book of mormon to Jabagji, and he introduced us to his family, and was so excited that we set up a return appointment for next week right after we stepped in the door! Im so excited to go back with our arabic material and see how it can help him! We taught Wolfgang and Erich Scharner one more time, and then we left for Wien for the weekend, for GENERAL KONFERENZ!
General Konferenz was just amazing. I loved every second and it was over too fast!
My testimony was renewed 10 fold, and i know that this church is led by prophets!
Oh... im probably getting transfered this week. So DO NOT SEND ANY MAIL! if you were planning on sending paper letters... send them to the mission home! Ill tell you next week where i am going!
I love you!
Adventure is out there!

Woche 34- Did someone call the service crew?

Liebe Familie!!
Grüß euch!
One crazy announcement- this morning, whilst i was enjoying the fresh morning chill, twas a SNOWFLAKE that did gently caress my face as it drifted slowly earthward bound. WHAT?!? I remember last time it snowed here. it was march and it was freezing. Now it seems as if i have liveed through a spring, summer, and now we are back to fall/winter. oh snap.
This week was an excitingly fast one if i do say so. Let me tell yall a tale of how we managed to do 1000000000 service projects in one week!
So, last monday, in the evening, we waited at the church for Andreas (the one with the baptismal date) for the first of MANY falled out appointments. Lets just get that out of the way now, and say that MANY lessons with him fell out this week, which really hindered his progress. Anyways, Bruder Bauer came and picked us up and we went and visited a few elderly sisters in the ward. Funny story- one lady- Sister Bauer (not related to Bruder Bauer)- when we got there, she didnt answer her door, so i called her. As I talked to her, she told me "es geht nicht, ich bin schon ausgezogen!"- which translated means "it doesnt work, im moved out!" so i turn to bruder bauer in confusion and say "she doesnt live her anymore! she moved!". Bruder Bauer got REALLY confused because she is about 90 and blind, so he couldnt imagine that she had moved anywhere. Well, turns out i made a few translation errors. "ausgezogen" CAN mean moved out, but it ALSO means "changed into pajamas"- so silly me confused the two definitions. Bruder Bauer had a good laugh. Silly German double meanings.
Tuesday we had distrikt meeting, and then German class with Bruder Korherr again- i got an "F" on my homework for having 9 mistakes in my grammar (mostly punctuation). i surely forgot how much i hate being in school! That night though, we had an awesome ward council where we talked about missionary work, and Bruder Hirschmann had some way cool ideas that we are going to try out soon. We also recieved a huge box of Zwetschkin (plums)- and elder Herzog and i almost ate the whole box... they are quite effective, i must say.
That night we took some cookies to a less active sister who just had surgery- she is from Burkina Fasso- shes black and SUPER cool!
Wednesday morning Elder Herzog and i had an exchange so he was my companion for the day! We started off with our first service project of the week- with Bruder Seitz down in his garden. We had to hurry really fast, because we had a really busy day- or so we thought. The other two went to do ANOTHER project- we had 5 lessons planned... only 2 actually went through. BUT one that worked out was with Wolfgang! we taught him about the Tithing at the schildböcks home! It was PERFECT! They gave great testimony of the blessings they recieved from tithing, and he accepted it just fine. He is really big on stuff in the Bible, so when we showed him the bible verses, he told accepted it. super cool!
Thursday, we went back to Seitz to finish the service project we started the day before- moving wood piles from his garden to his house. There was quite a lot of wood. We spent the rest of the day doing planning (oh and another falled out appointment with Andreas :( )
Friday we did ANOTHER huge service project with Sister Brunnsteiner- we helped these guys build a balcony on the back of her house! We ended up having an awesome gospel discussion with them. super cool! In the evening we had Deustch again with Korherr- it was his birthday, so we sang for him. That night we taught Wolfgang again- we told him we had finished all the lessons, and invited him to be baptised again- he turned us down. it was a little dissappointing, but he wants to keep meeting for sure- he just hasnt got his answer yet.
Saturday was the missionwide cleaning day, so we had to stay inside all day and clean the apartment, and it definitely took the whole day. that place was gross. Cool story though- bruder bauer (who was with us at the lesson with wolfgang the day before) called and just asked how we were doing, because he knew we were a little sad about the lesson. I told we were ok- MAN he is like my best friend! I love that guy. im gonna miss him.
Church was way cool, and so was lunch with hirschmanns- nuff said i think.
Its getting really cold here! Things are awesome!
Im outa time. so i guess this is the end!
I love you all!
Adventure is out there!

Woche 33- Answer to Prayers

Einen schönen guten Morgen!
Grüß euch!
Wie geht's euch?!
This week has been just wonderful. Like the title line says... an answer to
prayers.
So lets begin with the report!
Monday- It DUMPED rain. all day. That pretty much counts for the whole
week. Lots and lots of rain. really cold rain.
anyways- when P Day ended, we went to door out a building where a potential
supposedly lived, but we could find the name on the Klingel (door bells)-
so we doored a little bit. No luck there, so we went by on Albert, hoping
that he had returned home by that time. When we got there, Amanda let us
in, to meet her friend Melanie who was visiting her! We walked in and
Amanda said- hey these guys are the mormons. Tell her about the church! So
we came in adn taught her the restoration. It was cool! She had a million
questions for us, and it ended with Amanda saying she was going to drag her
to church with her sometime! Super cool!
tuesday, we had districts meeting, then while we were in Wien, we went by
on Martina, the friend of Wolfgang. We brought the Wien sisters with us, so
we could "pass her off", since shes technically not in our area. It was an
AMAZING lesson- so powerful as we read the passages from the Book of Mormon
that bring comfort to our lives personally- super cool! that night needed
to clean the apartment because the Hunsakers, the senior couple in charge
of apartments, were driving through Austria doing inspections! And that
brings the first prayer-answer story!
Wednesday morning, we were expecting the Hunsakers anytime before 12. But
we got invited to go do service at sister Huschners house- and our train
left at 11. So if the hunsakers didnt come before 10:30, we were in
trouble! But we couldnt get a hold of them to tell them... so we just
prayed really hard that they would come sooner! And right after we prayed,
they called us back and said they would get there by 10. Miracle! Second
miracle... it was pouring rain. And we wanted to do service with Sister
Huschner, which would become impossible if the rain kept up. so we said
another prayer, and the rain stopped just in time for us to go work at her
house! Super cool and really fun too. Her house is so Austrian. and we had
a Brettl Jousan. That just means a slab of wood with all kinds of exotic
cheeses and breads and meats, that you just kinda put together in weird
combinations. its super Austrian. That evening we taught Wolfgang again,
and a lot of his concerns came up again... about Baptism, the Word of
Wisdom, Joseph Smith, ect. Just a bunch of nit picky questions he has. So
we left that lesson pretty nervous, becasue we had a long list of questions
to answer.
Thursday morning, we had some service with Bruder Seitz planned, but it was
pouring rain the night before. So once again, we prayed that the rain would
stop so we could go serve. and it was totally clear when we woke up! So we
were so excited! But then Bruder Seitz called us and said he was busy
anyways so it fell through. So it was a miracle for nothing haha. atleast
is was pretty outside. But then, later that day...
We finally set an appointment with Andreas Glaser, an old investigator of
mine, that we found again in Bahnhof. We prayed about it, and got the
strong feeling we just needed to committ him to baptism very boldly. So we
went to the lesson with that in mind- he was happy to see us- and
immediately expressed the same concerns with Joseph Smith and money that he
had before. We pretty much ignored those, and went straight to the
challenge. We challenged him to "prove god" i guess you could say. We said
that if he would meet with us 3 times a week, read in the Book of Mormon
every day, and pray as well, and also attend church- he would KNOW 100%
without a doubt by the 12th of October that he needs to be baptised. And he
accepted the challenge! Unfortunatley he wasnt in church on sunday, but we
are meeting with him tonight, and we'll see where he is at with the "deal".
Friday we did a lot of planning, ate lunch with Schwester Sindl (which by
the way was a FULL CHICKEN! She slapped a chicken on each of our plates.
and it was stuffed with the Knödel stuff- it was AMAZING, but kinda a lot
of food haha) then we taught Kurt in the evening. pretty average day.
Saturday rained a lot as well. The weather is getting colder... and Ive
definitely noticed it takes a negative effect of the people... just like
how I noticed people got happier when it got warm, its been getting sadder
as its gets colder... its not something im excited for. But we had an
appointment with Andreas, that he didnt show up too- so we ended up going
street contacting in the rain. not our best idea ever. but we found a lady
named Josefina- she was super old, and wanted to buy the Book of Mormon off
of us- we told her we couldnt take money and she was almost afraid to take
it for free! that night was SO COOL! Wolfgang came to his lesson with his
friend Martina, and told us something awesome...
He prayed about the Word of Wisdom (like we asked him too) and as he was
reading through the story in Alma about the Lamanites burying the swords,
he realized he needs to repent, and he gave up alcohol and coffee! SO COOL!
I almost cried i was so happy, and the spirit was so strong! He still has
some disagreements about the baptism, but he is living the other
commandments, coming to church, reading and LOVING the book of mormon-
things couldnt be better! AH so miraculous!
Sunday in the church was cool- but the evening was the coolest part! We
went by on a potential- and we prayed before we left that we could help
someone, and give a book of mormon away. WELL. while we were walking out of
the apartment building of our potential, a lady was coming in. Naturally,
we started a conversation with her- turns out shes totally lost hope and is
depressed. So we promised her that if she read the book of mormon, she
would find hope and peace. At the beginning of the conversation, she
totally didnt want to talk to us, but by the end, she took the book,
promised to read, and said we could come back in a week! Super! On the way
home, a man asked us if we could help push his car, becasue it was stalled.
So we ended up pushing this guys car up a hill as hes trying to catch the
engine- it didnt really work. BUT we talked with him as well, and he said
we could come visit him and his wife! Miracles, answers to prayers, could
life get better?
Probably not.
I love you all, that was my week! I gotta go now!
Thanks for the letters this last week as well, that was great!

Woche 32- Bikes, and other interesting adventures.

Liebe Familie (yes, I found out Ive been writing that wrong since the
beginning of my mission. I thought there was an r there... but I was wrong
haha)
Grüß euch!
This week was so great! Elder Parkinson just had to sit down and marvel at
how great everything is going. If every week could be as cool as this one,
missions would be easy! We definitely worked our tails off, but is was so
worth is and so fun! Can i start by saying I have biked more this last week
than probably ever in my life. And Elder Parkinson is a little speed demon
with legs the size of Titans, so Im always busting beans trying to keep up
with him! It keeps things interesting though!
Now to list of the other interesting adventures of the week!
Monday after emails, we went to Wien right after to do a little sight
seeing before visiting the Stratzcenys (our Branch President. He lives
technically in the Wien 2 ward, but he is our branch president because we
dont have enough priesthood holders to have our own president.) We saw some
more cool old churches and domes and stuff- all like a 1000 years old... is
it bad that im a little desensitized to these kind of things? Its all
just... old stuff to me these days. Ive seen so many old castles and stuff
haha. But turns out we were WAY lost and we got to our presidents house
like an hour late, but we had an awesome talk about their temple mission-
they have served 8!! Its so crazy- President says its his punishment,
becuase he decided not to go on a mission when he was young, he got called
to served 8 when he got old haha. That night we slept in the Zone leaders
apartment! It was an adventure getting there... we had never been there
before so we were wandering around Wien around 8:45 trying to follow the
directions we got... we ended up taking a straßenbahn, and ubahn, and
walking over the river. somehow we found the zone leaders haha.
Tuesday, we had distrikt meeting which was cool as ever, then we came home
for our appointment with sister Dressler- which fell out like 5 minutes
before it happend. so we found some stuff to do before our PFK- which was
actually a very good one this week. Afterwards we rode the bikes out to
visit Stefan Schildböck and his girlfriend Birgit (I think I told you guys
about them last week)- turns out they werent home, so we had to reschedule,
and it was getting late by that point becasue they live pretty far outside
of town with the bikes- when it was time to come home, a storm was blowing
in, so we raced home and barely avoided the rain- that was a miracle!
Wednesday morning we went and did service in Bruder Seitz garden- we
mulched up all the plants from the whole summer- it is really turning into
Autumn here! Im still in denial a little bit, but i guess i just have to
accept it. Summer has come and gone! Sheesh! We had an appointment with a
guy named Mohammed at the bahnhof that afternoon- he didnt show up, but it
turned into a total miracle because our old investigator Andreas ran into
with his bike! He looked so much happier than when he dropped us, and said
he was ready to meet again! We would have never known if we hadnt been
standing in that exact spot! Crazy how the lord works like that! That
afternoon we rode the bikes out to Erich Scharner on the opposite side of
town for a cool visit with him, then we had German Class with Bruder
Korherr- he is so funny. Its cool to see how excited he gets to teach us
german. That evening we taught Wolfgang in the church about the Word of
Wisdom- it didnt go as good as we hoped. Hes kinda big on coffee and tea
and it didnt make sense to him. We had Bruder Jelinek there (a member i
have NEVER been able to get on a joint teach before, so that was a miracle
too!) and he bore good testimony... but it was still a little tense leaving
the lesson. I guess thats just a hard principle to swallow.
Thursday we had planned to go visit the family Seliga in Klamm- that would
have taken the whole day. BUT. last minute they called and canceled on us.
So we had NOTHING to do the whole day. We called as many people as we could
all morning to try and find someone. No go. So we ended up riding the bikes
to visit a less active family in a dorf about 10 km away- luckily it was
downhill the whole way. they werent home. So riding BACK was an adventure-
we were sweating good thats for sure by the time we got back up to the top!
We couldnt get any appointments in the afternoon either, but it all turned
into a miracle becasue our back up plan was to go by a man who lives in
Krems (a town on a mountain about 30 kms away. its straight out of a
fairytale) so we went and talked to about 1000000 people- and no one was
even giving us a second to talk. It was looking really bad for us and we
were losing morale. BUT the miracle came at the end of the day. The last
lady we talked to before getting back on our train home was named Regine.
She is also in St. Pölten and when she saw the Book of Mormon she
remembered seeing it as a little girl when the missionaries came to her
house, but doesnt remember anything else about it! So we set an appointment
in St. Pölten right there on the spot- but more about that later.
Friday,We did planning, ate lunch with Schwester Sindl (classic Austrian
meal. Knödel, Kraut, and Schweinbrat. it was so great!) then we met with
Amanda again! It was such an interesting lesson- bruder Hirschmann came
with. And we just talked and talked and talked- after a lot of beating
around the bush, she admitted she had never actually prayed to know if the
church was true or not. And she committed to do it! So we'll see what comes
of that! Bruder Bauer picked us up from the church to take us to our next
appointment with Stefan Schildböck and Birgit, but we got there about 20
min too late and they didnt want to meet anymore- it was a little sad, but
Bruder Bauer bought us schnitzel to say sorry for being late. So that was
fun to go to dinner with him.
Saturday was CRAZY. We met Regine at some café in the morning- and she
CAME! We had such a cool lesson and found out shes totally prepared to hear
the gospel, becasue she isnt really content with the catholic church
anymore and she thinks its cool that she remembers the book from 50-60
years ago! That afternoon we had another German class with Bruder Korherr,
then we changed our clothes and rode the bikes as fast as possible up this
GIANT hill to get to sister Brunnsteiners house- she had some service for
us to do. We had another appointment to catch right after so we had to go
really fast- but she ended up baking us brownies! real AMERICAN brownies!
Soemthing I havent had for 6 months haha. It was awesome! We changed our
clothes one more time back to business wear, and rode really quick to catch
the appointment with Erich again- we left a quick thought with him, and
rode back to the church to meet Wolfgang! We had hoped to have the
Schildböcks there, to talk about the Tithing. they had to cancel last
minute, so we had about 30 seconds to change the lesson plan- it ended up
being just fine becasue we talked a lot about his friend that he wanted us
to go teach- on SUNDAY. It was way cool to make out a game plan of how we
could best help his friend. Then we just read from the scriptures and bore
testimony of the truths we know. He is progressing so great! He told us he
has started praying to know if this is the truth for him!
Sunday was super cool! Amanda and Wolfgang were in the church, and right
after the church, we caught a train with Wolfgang to Wien to visit his
friend. Her name is Martina- and it was AMAZING! She has had a really hard
life, but she is just the sweetest lady in the world. As we introduced what
we do, she was so ready to recieve it all- to make her life better! Im so
excited to teach her some more tomorrow!
Then we just went home and ate Gulasch with Wolfgang, and listened to his
crazy Afrikan Jazz Cds... man he is so cool! He is just like a cool friend
of mine! Im so grateful that I could stay here and continual to build this
relationship. MISSIONARY WORK IS AWESOME!
Well, i am out of time. But I love you all!
Adventure is out there!
